4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 6/20/17
Mike Leake, SP, St. Louis Cardinals
FanDuel Price: $8,000
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Two pitchers are set to dominate the slate in Chris Sale and Ervin Santana. Sale is sporting an absurd 35.2% whiff rate, and Ervin Santana has been absolutely brilliant in 2017 with a microscopic 2.56 ERA this season. These two are likely to be the popular options at the pitching slot.
Torched for 17 earned runs over his last 4 starts (24 2/3 innings pitched), Mike Leake of the St. Louis Cardinals is not likely to see a ton of ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
Leake has definitely had a rough go of it recently, and that's not to be ignored. But a matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies may cure his recent problems. As a team, the Phillies rank 28th in wOBA (.301) against right-handed pitching, all while striking out at a nice 23.7% clip.
It hasn't been smooth sailing lately, but Leake has been strong this year due to an excellent hard-hit rate (only 27.6%) and a very healthy 54.9% ground-ball rate.
Leake will also be enjoying a park boost as Citizens Bank Park ranked 20th in park factor over the last three years (although it is 5th in home run factor). All in all, Leake could be in for a big evening at low ownership.
