3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/22/17
Jonathan Schoop, 2B, Baltimore Orioles
FanDuel Price: $3,700
With the forecast looking hot and humid at Camden Yards, the Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles both have implied team totals above 5.00, and this will be a popular destination to look for bats. That said, even though Jonathan Schoop has hit three dingers in his last five games, and is in the midst of a hot June, he's tough to justify at his price.
Although he has a .447 wOBA this month, he surprisingly has a rather average 32.7% hard-hit rate, and is striking out 24.4% of the time. Much of his success has stemmed from an inflated .375 BABIP and 35.0% home-run-to-fly-ball rate, rather than him putting a charge into the ball with more regularity.
Additionally, opposing pitcher Mike Clevinger's ability to get whiffs could prove troublesome if he's on his game.
With 14 homers on the year, Schoop is capable of knocking one out in these ideal hitting conditions, which keeps him as a secondary option in tournaments. But purely from a value perspective, you're better off getting more at this salary, and can't go here in cash games.
