Fantasy Baseball: 4 Pitchers to Stream for Week 16
Brent Suter, Milwaukee Brewers
Starts: July 17th at Pittsburgh Pirates, July 22nd at Philadelphia Phillies
ESPN ownership: 14 percent
Quite unlike Castillo, Milwaukee Brewers lefty Brent Suter has been thriving in the short sample this season despite the fact that his fastball sits around 86 miles per hour, quite the aberration in our velocity-obsessed era. Yet the soft-tossing southpaw has managed an ERA of 3.12 in his first 49 innings with the Brewers since he was called up for the proverbial cup of coffee last August.
Oddly enough, the soft velocity has not hindered Suter from seeing a notable bump in his strikeout rate this year. He's not doing it with his secondary stuff, either: Suter's arsenal has been nearly 70% four-seam this season, and the pitch's added movement has stymied hitters to the tune of a .534 OPS allowed on the pitch across 322 offerings.
Whether or not you believe the soft-tosser's current success is sustainable in the long term, you have to like the looks of his two-start slate this week, with the Brewers visiting Pennsylvania for a pair of the most tempting matchups in fantasy.
Indeed, the Phillies have been pretty much dead on arrival against lefties this season, and while the Pirates own an impressive 8.5% strikeout-minus-walk rate versus southpaws, they haven't been able to muster the power production to cash in on the strong plate discipline.
Suter's ownership tripled over the weekend in anticipation of this two-step, and look for that number to keep rising, as the unglamorous Brewer represents one of the few bright spots in the streamer landscape this week.
