Corey Kluber has actually posted even better numbers than Scherzer this year, ranking second among qualifying pitchers in both SIERA (2.60) and strikeout rate (35.8%), while being first in swinging-strike rate (16.5%).

He has been especially dominant recently, with at least 10 strikeouts in 11 of his last 14 games, and no fewer than 8 in any of them. His 40.1% strikeout rate and 18.6% swinging-strike rate since the All-Star break are absolutely absurd.

His matchup today isn't nearly as good as Scherzer's, though. The Kansas City Royals strikeout at a below-average rate against righties (20.3%) while sporting a 92 wRC+, stacking him up just behind Scherzer as the second-best pitching option on the slate.
