4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 8/25/17
Steve Pearce, OF, Toronto Blue Jays
FanDuel Price: $3,300
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Jake Odorizzi has had a tough 2017. The fact that he's recorded a 5.08 SIERA and is allowing 2.16 homers per nine -- including a 38.0% hard-hit rate and 47.0% fly-ball rate -- hasn't helped his cause. Dexter Fowler of the St. Louis Cardinals, who's mashed his way to a 132 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this year, should see sky-high ownership rates.
Steve Pearce may not be quite as heavily played as Fowler.
Why You Should Use Him:
Batting lead-off in the last two games, the Blue Jays outfielder is in a prime lineup spot, and gets the added benefit of facing Bartolo Colon.
Colon has had a long year, and his chase to 250 career wins has been a bumpy ride. Colon's posted a 5.11 SIERA this year, and his 13.9% strikeout rate is on pace to be one of the lowest marks of his career.
So far in 2017, righties have had their way with Colon, rocking him for a .401 wOBA and a .581 slugging percentage. It just so happens that Pearce loves to see righties on the mound -- this season, he's punished them to the tune of a 34.2% hard-hit rate and a 38.7% fly-ball rate, a big part of his .841 OPS against same-sided arms this year.
