Adam Conley had himself a day against the New York Mets in his last start, striking out 11 in 7 innings of one-run ball (61 fantasy points). But don't let that outing tempt you into using him, even in a plum spot against the strikeout-prone San Diego Padres.

Conley's 11 punchout performance looks like nothing more than a fluky outlier. Even when including that game, his August strikeout rate sits at just 16.2%, and on the year it's 17.1%. Conley is hardly a flamethrower, averaging a fastball around 90 miles per hour, and nothing stands out in the Mets outing to suggest any change in pitch usage or velocity caused the strikeout spike. He also has a poor 5.07 SIERA this season.

With a slew of strong arms at our disposal this evening, there's little reason to take a chance that lightning strikes twice for Conley.
