Fantasy Baseball: 9 Players That Are Being Overvalued
Billy Hamilton - Cincinnati Reds (OF)
Billy Hamilton is a speed demon, with 50-plus stolen bases in each of the last four seasons. It's because of that speed and the relative lack of steals in baseball that is causing fantasy owners to draft him as the 18th outfielder with an ADP of 64.05 that puts him in the early parts of the sixth round.
That is way too soon for a player that does only one thing well. Our projections have Hamilton as the 30th-best outfielder as a .250 hitter with an OPS of just .632, 3 homers, and 70 runs scored. We do see him piling up 52 steals, so he will help greatly in that statistic. But people drafting Hamilton in the sixth round are taking a player that will be a drain in every other category at a time in the draft when more well-rounded players should be grabbed.
