Robbie Ray Will Become Arizona's Ace

Zack Greinke will not be making the Opening Day start for the Arizona Diamondbacks as he tries to come back from a groin injury, and there were reports his fastball velocity struggled to get out of the mid-80s for much of the spring.

This does not mean Greinke is going to be hot garbage this season, but he's certainly not starting off on the right foot. However, the pitcher who will take his spot as the team's Opening Day starter, Robbie Ray, appears on track for a phenomenal season.

Heck, Ray was phenomenal last year, putting up 5.4 WAR with a 15-5 record and 2.89 ERA in 28 starts -- boasting a whopping 218 strikeouts in 162 innings. Greinke was also awesome last year, with a 6.4 WAR, 3.20 ERA and 215 strikeouts in 202.1 innings. But it seems unlikely Greinke is going to cross the 200-inning barrier in 2018, and with Greinke on the downward slope of his career (34 years old), Ray is on the way up (26).

Ray will be the better fantasy option in 2018.
