3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/23/18
Jake Odorizzi, SP, Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $7,200
There's a reason the Minnesota Twins acquired Jake Odorizzi for such a cheap price, trading away just the fourth-best shortstop prospect in their own system to get the right-hander. Odorizzi pitched to the tune of a 4.14 ERA in a pitcher's park in Tropicana Field last year, and his 4.90 SIERA in 2017 indicates he was even worse than his ERA reflects.
This season hasn't been much better as Odorizzi's combination of middling strikeout and walk rates with poor contact management (career 45.0% fly-ball rate) adds up to a pitcher we don't want to use in DFS.
Today, he has to deal with a New York Yankees offense that ranks in the top five in terms of wOBA and walk-to-strikeout ratio against right-handed pitching. He also has the misfortune of dealing with the Yankees on the road in Yankee Stadium, one of the better environments for offense.
