Pedro Alvarez, 1B, Baltimore Orioles

Pedro Alvarez has only made 87 Major league plate appearances over the last two seasons, but if we again move our view back to include 2016 as well, his work in 336 plate appearances versus right-handed pitching has been solid.

He has a big 40.3% hard-hit rate, and despite pairing that with a high soft-hit rate (21.0%), he has still picked up a .349 wOBA with an especially strong .252 ISO.

Tampa Bay Rays righty Jacob Faria represents a matchup for Alvarez to continue putting up impressive lefty-versus-righty numbers. Faria has a 4.46 SIERA over 20 career Major League games, and in that time he has an especially ugly 5.53 xFIP against left-handed hitters, while also allowing a massive 18.8% walk rate and benefitting from an unsustainably low .198 BABIP.
