5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 5/4/18
Adam Duvall, OF, Cincinnati Reds
Price: $2,800
Wei-Yin Chen's injury-shortened 2017 campaign wasn't a good one as he struggled to the tune of what was then a career-worst 4.61 SIERA. He finished his recovery and made his 2018 debut last week, and while only allowing 1 earned run in 5 1/3 innings, ended the game with a 5.53 xFIP as he gave up a 43.8% hard-hit rate compared to only a 6.3% soft-hit rate. His 5.37 SIERA was not an encouraging sign either.
Adam Duvall has also struggled to open 2018, but like Morrison, he's being held back by an unsustainable BABIP. His .183 mark is well below both his .271 career-average and the .290 he posted in 2017, despite his strong batted-ball profile (41.3% hard-hit rate, 18.7% soft-hit rate, 48.0% fly-ball rate).
Since the opening of the 2017 season, Duvall has a .370 wOBA and .285 ISO against southpaws, and he should be able to take advantage of this matchup with Chen.
