On a day that doesn't offer a lot in the way of top-end pitching options, Stephen Strasburg stands out as an easy choice as the stud pitcher to target.
His 3.10 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) to open 2018 is the best mark among all starters on the slate, with the next-best clip sitting at 3.52. He also led the group in SIERA in 2017 with a 3.37 mark. His 29.1% strikeout rate in 2017 is also best on the slate, as is his 28.6% strikeout rate to open 2018.
He brings that into a great matchup as he's taking on a San Diego Padres squad that ranks only 24th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. The Padres also strike out at the highest rate in the Majors against righties.
Unsurprisingly, the Padres' 3.15 implied total is the slate's lowest, and our models project Strasburg for 10.5 more FanDuel points than any other pitcher.
