The Houston Astros offense has disappointed a bit as a whole in 2018, and Josh Reddick is very representative of that. It's not that he is having a poor year, by any means, it's just that like the other members of the lineup, he has simply taken a small step back from 2017.

Reddick's strikeout rate has climbed from 13.3% to 19.9%, and his hard-hit rate hasn't increased enough to justify the uptick in whiff potential. And while he gets a right-handed pitcher in Garrett Richards on Wednesday, this is no easy matchup.

Richards has been very good this year with a 28.8% strikeout rate and just a 26.0% fly-ball rate allowed. He's also been tougher on left-handed hitters like Reddick more than he has against right-handed bats in his career. Richards has held left-handed hitters to a .291 wOBA, 21.5% strikeout rate, 22.4% fly-ball rate, and 25.3% hard-hit rate in his career.

Even on such a short slate and at a cheap price, don't pay down for Reddick here.
