Fantasy Baseball: Where Will Hanley Ramirez Have the Biggest Impact?
Cleveland Indians
There are a couple teams that could look to use Ramirez as part of a platoon, and of all those places the Cleveland Indians might offer him the best chance to contribute (not to mention compete for a World Series title).
In this situation, he would enter into a platoon with Yonder Alonso, who is batting .228/.293/.430 in 174 plate appearances. Alonso does have 9 homers and has knocked in 26, but isn't exactly raking against left-handers this year, as you can see from his .294 wOBA split. Ramirez owns a career .381 wOBA (.371 in 2018) against southpaws, so while we could expect Alonso to get more starts Ramirez would get his fair share of chances.
The good news is Cleveland's Progressive Field has been terrific for hitters, as it rates as the major's best run-scoring environment. Ramirez has only played nine games there in his career, and he has hit .286/.333/.474 with 2 homers in 39 plate appearances. But it's a good stadium for offense, and Cleveland would surround him with high-quality hitters like Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnacion.
