Former All-Star Andrew McCutchen has picked up the pace somewhat after a slow start to his first season with the San Francisco Giants, but even an improved May triple slash of .267/.367/.386 has the 31-year-old outfielder looking like a declining stud.

His underlying numbers during that span tell a different story, however, with 'Cutch showing some of the best quality contact numbers in the league (47.0% hard-hit rate and 28.8% line-drive rate) while flashing a discerning batting eye with a slender 16.2% out-of-zone swing rate. Consider McCutchen a worthy mid-priced option as the Giants trek to hitter-friendly Coors Field in Week 9 before returning home to tangle with the back-half of a tough but hittable Phillies rotation.
