New York Yankees righty Sonny Gray has really struggled in 2018. Through 10 starts, his skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) sits at 4.93, while he's giving up a career-high 35.4% hard-hit rate and forcing a career-low 15.5% soft-hit rate.

We don't have a particularly big sample-size on Pedro Alvarez over the last two seasons, but over 150 plate appearances in that time, he has a competent .330 wOBA and .227 ISO, despite only boasting a .238 BABIP on a 33.3% hard-hit rate.

Even without accounting for his low BABIP, that production makes him a viable play in this matchup, but the added upside that he doesn't have priced in today makes him an especially strong value.
