3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/4/18
Christian Villanueva, 3B, San Diego Padres
FanDuel Price: $3,400
I'm convinced that if the San Diego Padres were better, Christian Villanueva would be a bigger story. He has come out of seemingly nowhere to lead the National League in home runs, non-Bryce Harper category. At just the age of 26, he has a very bright future ahead of him.
But for right now, it is interesting to note that essentially all of his damage has come against left-handed pitching. In just 59 plate appearances against southpaws, Villanueva has a 282 wRC+ with a 47.2% fly-ball rate, and 11 of his 15 home runs have come in the split. In 131 plate appearances against right-handers, however, he has just a 66 wRC+, 29.4% hard-hit rate, and 4 home runs.
And as bad as Julio Teheran is against left-handed hitters, he absolutely owns right-handed bats, holding them to a .270 wOBA. This includes a 24.2% strikeout rate, 4.8% walk rate, and 29.3% hard-hit rate. Against a tough right-hander, Villanueva shouldn't be on your roster, and he may not be in the lineup anyway after exiting early on Sunday.
