3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/6/18
Eduardo Rodriguez, SP, Boston Red Sox
FanDuel Price: $8,100
With injures and inconsistency from starters Drew Pomeranz and David Price, Eduardo Rodriguez has certainly done his part to settle the Boston Red Sox rotation when he's been on the mound. He has a 3.88 ERA this year, but his 3.43 SIERA is even better.
It's rare for me to want to fade a pitcher with a SIERA that strong, especially when his ERA is higher, but there is logic behind it in this case. Fenway Park is the third-friendliest ballpark for offense, and this effect is heightened for a left-handed pitcher facing plenty of respectable right-handed bats.
The Detroit Tigers are no joke against left-handed pitchers either. In fact, only the Atlanta Braves have a lower strikeout rate against southpaws (18.1%). The Tigers also rank first in hard-hit rate against left-handed hitters with a 40.3% rate. This hard-hit rate is also higher with the return of Miguel Cabrera this past weekend. Cabrera has been limited to just 31 games this season but he still has a 50.0% hard-hit rate when he has played.
Against a team that offers a near-perfect combination of contact and power against left-handed pitchers, Rodriguez is a tough avoid in this spot.
