Historically, Adam Jones has performed better against same-sided pitching. For his career, the outfielder sports improvement across the board in comparing these splits, including wOBA (.342 versus .317), isolated power (.194 versus .148 ISO), and strikeout rate (18.2% versus 20.4%).

Unfortunately for Jones, Eduardo Rodriguez is the starter for the Boston Red Sox tonight, and it could make for tough sledding. In 2018, those poor splits have kept up for Jones, including a .305 wOBA and .068 isolated power against left-handed pitching.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, has been a strikeout machine this year, recording a mark of 27.6% with a 11.7% swinging-strike rate. All this adds up to a low-floor night for Jones.
