Andrew Cashner starting for Baltimore tonight immediately puts the Washington Nationals offense on the radar for fantasy appeal.

While his 3.40 ERA hid it a bit, Cashner's 2017 campaign was about as bad as you'll see. Over 28 games, he posted a heinous 5.52 SIERA with a 9.1% walk and 12.2% strikeout rate. His SIERA has fallen this year, but it still sits at an awful 4.80, and his ERA has climbed (4.98) to reflect the poor work he's doing on the mound.

Bryce Harper is not producing up to his usual standard this season, but his .345 wOBA isn't too concerning. His 41.2% hard-hit rate and 11.0% soft-hit rate are both on pace to be career-bests, but his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) sits at .209. He finished with a .356 BABIP in 2017 and has a .314 career-average, so making the best contact we have ever seen him make means we can expect a big increase in BABIP and production.

A matchup with Cashner puts him in a terrific spot to show that.
