Detroit Tigers starter Michael Fulmer is not having quite as good a year in 2018 as he's had in years past.

Through 16 starts (94.1 innings), his ERA is a career high 4.20 with a FIP of 4.04 and an xFIP of 4.04. He's never been a big strikeout guy, and that's continued this year with a 20.4% strikeout rate. His success has always come from getting batters to hit the ball on the ground. And while he's done that some this year, his ground-ball rate has fallen from 49.2% to 46.3%. Not a huge dip, but it's there.

Fulmer is allowing more hard-hit balls, according to Fangraphs, with his hard-hit rate up from 30.0% and 30.4% the last two years to 40.1% this season. He's also seen an increase in his walk rate, from 5.9% last season to 7.7% this season.

It's hard to trust starters that don't strike out many guys, which is why you should wait for Fulmer to put together a couple good starts in a row and see if you can get something a little better for him.
