Luiz Gohara, SP, Atlanta Braves

Luiz Gohara showed a ton of potential last year in his age-20 season. He was awesome in both Double-A and Triple-A, earning a September call-up to the Majors, where he had a 25.2% strikeout rate and 6.5% walk rate. His 2018 got off to a rough start, though, and his struggles are easy to understand.

Before the year even started, Gohara injured his ankle, keeping him sidelined until mid-April.

Then in late May, Gohara's mother had heart surgery, necessitating a trip back to Brazil. His father had passed away over the offseason from causes that are still unknown. That's a ton for anybody to deal with, much less a 21-year-old who lives far away from home. Gohara's lack of performance suddenly becomes completely understandable and completely irrelevant compared to all that's going on in his life outside of baseball.

Back on the mound, Gohara seems to be getting back on track. He made two successful relief appearances with the Atlanta Braves this month before heading back down to Triple-A to get stretched as a starter. He should be in the Braves' rotation again soon, and with how great Gohara looked at all levels last year, his price could easily jump back up again in the near future.
