Michael Conforto, OF, New York Mets

Until we see Michael Conforto post good results over an extended period of time, we need to be skeptical. He had a devastating shoulder injury last year, and he has struggled ever since. But some recent changes in his peripherals have provided cause for hope.

The biggest concern around Conforto's shoulder is that he might not have the power he showed in the past, which serves as a large chunk of his appeal for fantasy. And for the first part of the season, that was very true with his hard-hit rate sitting at just 27.8% on May 31st. Things have ticked up since then, though.

The New York Mets started a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 14th, almost exactly a month before the All-Star break. Since the start of that series, Conforto's hard-hit rate is 45.8% across 72 balls in play. He's pairing that with a 16.3% walk rate and 23.6% strikeout rate. The results haven't followed yet, but it could happen soon.

It's possible the Conforto owner in your league is still worried about the injuries or just annoyed with the performance. There is some risk in acquiring the outfielder, but with the price much lower than it was previously, now may be the time to check in and see what it would take to net the young slugger.
