Jake Arrieta has been a big part of the Philadelphia Phillies' resurgence this season. He has a 3.32 ERA on the year and has earned nine victories compared to just six losses to date.

However, Arrieta's peripherals aren't particularly good. His 4.36 SIERA would be the highest of his career since 2013, and his 7.2% swinging-strike rate is extremely low, especially in this era of baseball in which a 10.6% rate is average in the National League.

Pitching to contact doesn't sound like a recipe for success against a Arizona Diamondbacks lineup that ranks seventh in baseball with a 38.0% hard-hit rate against right-handed pitching this season. It would be safe to look elsewhere tonight.
