Nathan Eovaldi, SP, Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox' newest trade acquisition is certainly exciting. Nathan Eovaldi throws absolute gas, and his 3.38 ERA so far this year is excellent.

However, I'm not sure he does anything particularly well, outside of avoiding walks. His 10.8% swinging-strike rate and 22.8% strikeout rate are thoroughly average. Moreover, his 39.3% fly-ball rate and 33.2% hard-hit rate are mediocre at best.

While he is certainly a solid pitcher in a fine matchup against the Orioles, he is being priced at his ceiling. But his upside is limited due to a paltry strikeout rate, which makes him an avoid at his generous cost.
