A cheap pitcher like Yovani Gallardo that has eight wins backed by a red-hot offense is an easy salary-saving pitcher, right?

Diving into the numbers, Gallardo doesn't look so hot. On the season, he has struck out only 13.7% of hitters, while posting a 10.8% walk rate. Adding to those woes, the veteran righty has allowed a 37.0% hard-hit rate.

Gallardo could sneak out a win, but a 5.50 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) shows he's been pretty poor in 2018.
