Marcus Semien has been a focal player in the Oakland Athletics' surprising second-half surge, but his modest power totals (.152 ISO since the break) relegate him to the margins of daily consideration despite his plum spot near the top of a potent lineup.

Semien is seeing the ball very well over the last two weeks, working a 16.4% walk rate on just 23.3% out-of-zone swings. With 23.7% liners and a mere 13.2% soft contact in that recent sample, his .278 BABIP could stand to rise a few points towards his career mark of .299.

As his FanDuel salary hovers in the mid-$3,000s, Semien looks like a cheap ticket to quality at-bats when the Athletics aim to beat up on some suspect Orioles pitching this week, to say nothing of the experimental grab-bag that is the Tampa Bay staff.
