Gerrit Cole's scheduled start on Thursday was rained out, so just about everything that made him a top play last night holds true today. He still ranks fourth among qualifying pitchers with a 2.88 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), he still leads the MLB with a 35.1% strikeout rate, and both of those marks are still the best among qualifying starters on the slate.

He's also still up against a Baltimore Orioles squad that, if we look at active rosters, ranks only 26th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching while also striking out at the third-highest rate in the Majors (24.6%).

There are more stud pitching options tonight than there were on Thursday, but Cole's strikeout upside is still enough to put him over the top on Friday.
