Daily Fantasy Baseball: Positive Batted-Ball Regression Candidates for Week 2
Lewis Brinson, OF, Miami Marlins
After a rookie season from hell in 2018 (.199/.240/.338 across 406 plate appearances), former top prospect Lewis Brinson enters 2019 as something of an afterthought, and his early returns haven't exactly restored his profile. The young Miami Marlins' outfielder carries an .064 ISO with not a walk yet drawn in 38 plate appearances.
Yet some underlying numbers suggest he's been stoking the ball with more authority. The 24-year old carries 55.2% hard-hit rate, 20.7% line-drive rate, and 69.0% pull rate, with Statcast projecting him for a .509 xSLG that dwarfs his actual mark of .303.
Best of all for daily players, Brinson comes at virtually no cost on FanDuel, making him an intriguing roster filler when he visits the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park to face a pedestrian Cincinnati Reds rotation in Week 2.
