Designated Hitter: David Ortiz

Clutch: 0.98

Big Papi is best known for his late-inning heroics last fall against the Tigers in the ALCS, when he saved the Red Sox season with a grand slam. But last year, David Ortiz wasn't clutch. In fact, he was in the bottom five among designated hitters in clutch rating.

This year, however, Papi is leading the way, hitting .349/.423/.721 in high-pressure situations and .252/.344/.504 with a .357 wOBA overall. Ortiz does most of his damage with runners on base, hitting .303/.410/.578 with men on, and .300/.419/.580 with RISP. 69 of his 82 runs batted in have come with runners on base, as have half of his 26 home runs. When the Red Sox are behind late in games, they can count on Papi, who's hitting .301/.357/.521 when the Red Sox are down.
