Yovani Gallardo's Opening Day matchup against Oakland may seem a bit daunting since it's a road start, but pitching in the cavernous O.co Coliseum gives a little leeway to pitchers. Gallardo's ground-ball percentage increased from 38.2% in 2007 to 50.8% in 2014, and there's very little power in the A’s lineup -- the loss of Coco Crisp to injury takes away an additional speedster from a lineup that has to produce scoring situations any way possible.

Gallardo also gets a crack at the Houston Astros Saturday at home this week. The Astros may be improved, but not enough to shy away from a home start. If Gallardo can keep running threats such as Jose Altuve and George Springer off base, the power bats won’t be as threatening.
