5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 5/6/16
Mark Teixeira, 1B, New York Yankees
FanDuel Price: $3,000
Now is the time to take advantage of DFS players using small 2016 samples when making lineup decisions.
Mark Teixeira is a prime example. His ISO has dropped to .164 versus right-handed pitching this year, mostly due to an extremely high 48.4 percent ground ball rate. However, he’s still managed to hit three home runs from this side of the plate.
Now, when you take a step back and look at the larger sample size, you’ll see he dominated right-handed pitching last year. The switch-hitting Teixeira enjoyed an elite .339 ISO and .399 wOBA as a left-handed hitter in 2015.
Tonight, he’ll face Rick Porcello, who allowed 16 home runs, a .196 ISO, and a .354 wOBA to lefties in 2015. Porcello’s numbers also worsened on the road, where his ISO allowed jumped 65 points to .201.
In a great matchup, trust the bigger sample and use likely-overlooked Mark Teixeira.
