5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 5/9/16
Jose Abreu, 1B, Chicago White Sox
FanDuel Price: $3,900
Jose Abreu has crushed right-handed pitching since coming to the MLB, as he hit them for a .240 ISO and .384 wOBA last season. All five of his home runs this year have come versus righties, continuing to show his reverse power splits.
Tonight, he has the ultimate matchup. He’ll travel to Texas to face Colby Lewis, who has already allowed four home runs this season to righties. Perhaps more impressively, Lewis is allowing a .195 ISO and a massive 54.5 percent fly ball rate to those hitters.
Lewis’ generosity to right-handed hitters is no fluke. In the prior two seasons, he’s allowed 28 home runs to them.
Another overlooked benefit of this matchup is the Texas weather. According to Daily Baseball Data, Arlington has the lowest non-Coors Air Density Index at 59 tonight -- all other games are in the mid-to-high 60s. With air that thin, those fly balls Lewis allows will be more likely to turn into home runs.
Weather isn’t factored into Abreu’s price, and that’s where we can gain an additional edge.
