5 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 5/9/16
Gregory Polanco, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates
FanDuel Price: $3,200
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Gregory Polanco would normally be a very popular option today, but with so much attention focused on Coors Field, he is going to be lower owned than he should be.
Why You Should Use Him:
Polanco had his fourth homer of the year yesterday, and has been on a tear all season long. He has a chance to keep things going against Dan Straily, who has a career 4.36 SIERA. Vegas thinks Pittsburgh will score, as they have the Pirates projected for 4.7 runs, one of the highest totals on the slate.
Polanco, a lefty, has posted much improved numbers against right-handed pitching. Check out the difference in Polanco's numbers against pitchers of different handedness below.
Gregory Polanco | wOBA | SLG | ISO | K% | BB% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Career vs L | 0.233 | 0.275 | 0.092 | 25.5% | 7.8% |
Career vs R | 0.333 | 0.418 | 0.142 | 16.1% | 10.1% |
He's been crushing opposing pitchers all year, posting a career-best 35.8 percent hard-hit rate, and he should have no problem with Straily. Polanco is one of the most appealing plays on the day at such a cheap price.
