Jake Arrieta, Chicago Cubs

Despite a 10-0 record and 1.72 ERA, Jake Arrieta isn’t holding baseball hostage the way he was over the second half of last season. He’s still been one of the game’s best, though, posting a 3.30 SIERA, 25.7% strikeout rate and 8.1% walk rate. Today, he gets a home matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers and checks in as our top-ranked pitcher for the main slate.

Arrieta has been dominant at Wrigley Field since the start of 2014, holding hitters to wOBA’s of .202 (2014), .227 (2015) and .237 (2016) over the past two-plus seasons. Los Angeles is usually a little lefty-heavy versus right-handed pitchers, typically employing southpaws Chase Utley, Joc Pederson, Adrian Gonzalez and Corey Seager. Arrieta dominated everyone in 2015, but he was especially potent versus left-handed bats, holding them to a meager .205 wOBA.
