Franklin Gutierrez, OF, Seattle Mariners

Franklin Gutierrez against a lefty is a situation always worth taking a look at, especially while his salary is so low.

He's hitting .271/.368/.500 against lefties this season with a .372 wOBA that's not too far off of his .360 career mark. He also has a career .202 ISO against lefties.

Christian Friedrich is a guy whose production never seems to match the way he's pitching. Through his first three seasons he was stuck in Coors Field, where his ERA was regularly much higher than his SIERA, but now in his first season in San Diego, he has posted an impressive 1.65 ERA through three games, despite his 5.53 SIERA, 15.3 percent strikeout rate and 13.9 percent walk rate being serious red flags.

He is much more vulnerable against right-handed hitters, allowing a career .376 wOBA and 4.51 xFIP compared to a .299 wOBA and 3.56 against lefties, and Gutierrez is in a great spot to take advantage of that tonight.
