5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Studs to Target on 6/28/16
Carlos Santana, 1B, Cleveland Indians
FanDuel Price: $4,300
Perhaps the switch-hitting Carlos Santana should think about hitting from the left side of the plate full-time. He’s been miserable as a right-handed hitter this season, as evidenced by his splits:
2016 splits | ISO | wOBA | HR | Fly Ball % | Hard Hit % |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
as LHB | 0.284 | 0.372 | 14 | 51.9 | 40.7 |
as RHB | 0.096 | 0.255 | 2 | 27.0 | 28.4 |
Unlike season-long fantasy leagues, where we would potentially have to suffer from Santana facing multiple left-handed pitchers in a given week, we have the freedom to pick and choose when to roster him in DFS.
It’s clear we should never consider him against lefties, but he’s in play every night he’s hitting left-handed. It’s an even better spot than usual for him tonight as he’ll face Matt Wisler, who has allowed a career .223 ISO to left-handed hitters.
If you can’t fit Goldschmidt in your lineup or you’re just looking to differentiate in GPPs, Santana is another stud first base option.
