Brandon Phillips has seen his production fall off a bit this season, and age may well be catching up with him. However, he has still hit left-handed pitching well, slashing .313/.343/.469 against southpaws with a .339 wOBA and only an 11.8% strikeout rate.

He has an especially good matchup tonight against Padres' lefty Christian Friedrich.

Friedrich hasn't inspired much confidence over his career, posting a 4.31 SIERA, and this season's 4.93 SIERA is a career-worst clip. He has been especially bad against right-handed hitters, allowing a .338 wOBA with an ugly 5.34 xFIP. Phillips is likely to give him some trouble tonight.
