4 Under-the-Radar FanDuel MLB Plays for 8/10/16
Ben Zobrist, 2B, Chicago Cubs
FanDuel Price: $3,700
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Devon Travis was expected to be the chalk yesterday, and the daily fantasy community delivered with Travis being owned in up to 75% in cash games. With yet another low price and another appealing matchup, Travis should hog the ownership at second base once again. As a result, Ben Zobrist will find himself with much lower ownership than he should in tonight's matchup.
Why You Should Use Him:
Zobrist and the Chicago Cubs are projected for the second-most runs (5.2) on the slate as they take on righty Ricky Nolasco, which makes a lot of sense when you look at Nolasco's numbers over his past seven starts. During that time, Nolasco has a 5.90 ERA and has given up 10 home runs. Most recently, he gave up 5 runs and 3 home runs to the Oakland Athletics, who rank in the bottom-10 in both statistics for the year.
Nolasco has also been worse against left-handed batters in his career -- which is where the switch-hitting Zobrist will hit from -- posting a 3.50 xFIP against righties and 4.17 xFIP against lefties. Zobrist has put up slightly better numbers against lefties in his career, but has actually hit right-handed pitching better this year.
It's probably inadvisable to fade Travis in cash games at his price, but Zobrist makes for an excellent tourney pivot.
