4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/28/16

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Boston Red Sox

There are a few ingredients that a pitcher needs in order to suppress an offense like the Boston Red Sox'. They need a superb strikeout rate to overcome the team's abilities to put the ball in play. They also need to avoid walks to sidestep their 8.7% walk rate. Finally, you need to induce soft contact to keep the balls in the yard.

Bryan Mitchell's still trying to conquer all three of those categories upon his return.

We know that Mitchell has talent because of what he did the past few years, but it seems his surgery has sapped a bit of his short-term oomph. Mitchell's SIERA is 5.41 through his first four starts back, and his 11.1% strikeout rate is well below average. He's in a hitter's park against one of the best offenses in baseball, so he'll need to get that zip back quickly if he wants to avoid some issues.

Jackie Bradley's price is way too high for his spot in the order, but it seems as if his early-season sauciness is back. Over the past 30 days, Bradley has upped his hard-hit rate to 43.3% with a 10.0% soft-hit rate and 35.0% fly-ball rate. We'd prefer it if Bradley were to move back up into the top two thirds of the order, but he's good enough for tourney consideration regardless.
