4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 5/19/17

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Washington Nationals

In some ways, R.A. Dickey is pitching better this year than he was in 2016. His ground-ball rate is up over 10 percentage points, and that's never a bad thing. But beyond that, other stats are crashing to the ground in a hurry, and it may force us to check out bats against him for the time being.

Here are the big ones that are working against Dickey. "SwStr%" is short for swinging-strike rate. That ol' knuckler was getting whiffs last year, but they are nowhere to be found now.

Dickey might be able to squeak by if just the strikeouts or walks were drifting in the wrong direction. It's everything, though. It's hard to tell what's causing this dip, but it certainly makes the Washington Nationals an interesting team to stack.

Because this is a slate where we want to roster Chris Sale at his extravagant price tag, we'll be scrounging for value across the board. Depending on how the Nationals' lineup ends up, we've got a couple of candidates here in Brian Goodwin and Matt Wieters. Assuming that Jayson Werth and Ryan Zimmerman return to the lineup, our two value outlets will likely be floating around sixth or seventh in the lineup, but Dickey's plate-discipline numbers mean those spots will have the ability to drive in runs.

Wieters has a 36.4% hard-hit rate and 39.0% fly-ball rate against righties, making him a solid option at $2,800 on FanDuel. Goodwin has never been a big power guy in the minors, but he has some speed, and for $2,200, he's a great way to get cheap exposure to an elite lineup if he plays.
