4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/14/17

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. With the split slates, we'll be focusing exclusively on the main slate beginning at 7 pm Eastern. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Texas Rangers

You can stack either side of tonight's game between the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros. However, they're both insanely expensive, meaning it's probably best if we just focus on one here. We've discussed stacking against Andrew Cashner plenty before, which is very much in play today, so we can likely just reiterate that the Astros are in a good spot. But so are the Rangers, and their appeal may require a bit more explanation.

They'll be squaring off with Francis Martes, who is making his first start in the big leagues for the Astros. Martes doesn't turn 22 until November, and he's one of the top arms in the Astros' stacked farm system. So why, then, would we be looking at bats against him? His issues with walks are beyond concerning.

Martes threw 32 1/3 innnings in Triple-A prior to his promotion. He got a good number of strikeouts with a 23.3% rate there, but it came along with a whopping 17.2% walk rate. That helped him finish his stint down there with a 5.29 ERA and 5.55 xFIP, fully justifying the thought of stacking against him. Martes' long-term outlook is still great, but the immediate future is a bit less rosey.

Our exposure to Rougned Odor needs to be limited for as long as he is chilling down in the seventh spot in the Rangers' order. We can still consider him, though, in the right matchups if we think he's trending up. And, oh baby, he is.

Two-run, go-ahead, oppo-taco dinger for his second long ball of the night. Hello, beautiful. This hot streak was bound to happen eventually given Odor's steady hard contact, and he has amped his hard-hit rate up to 36.4% over the past month. He may not be batting seventh for long, and with the way he's hitting, we can even consider him before he gets the bump up in the order.
