FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 4/11/18

After two glorious evenings of elite pitching, we're back to wading through scraps on hump day's main slate. That isn't to say there isn't talent to choose from tonight, but chances are you won't feel fully comfortable with whomever you choose. On the bright side, no pitcher is priced over $9,100, so we'll have more flexibility on the hitting side. With Coors Field playing during the day, the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets are looking like the primary hitting hot spots tonight.

On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.

Pitchers to Target

Alex Wood ($8,800 on FanDuel): Considering Alex Wood is rarely allowed high pitch counts, he isn't a guy we typically peg for pitching deep into games, and that is particularly problematic on FanDuel where that quality start bonus (4 points) is in play. In 2017, he hit 100 pitches just once in 25 starts, and hasn't exceeded 90 in his two starts so far this season. But, given tonight's limited pitching selection, he still looks like the safest play in cash games. Wood faded down the stretch last year, but posted a 3.57 SIERA, 24.6% strikeout rate, and 6.2% walk rate, along with a 53.0% ground-ball rate and 27.7% hard-hit rate. Reduced velocity was the main culprit in his second-half decline, and we may not be out of the woods yet in that department, as his velocity was shaky in last week's start. Still, this Oakland Athletics group exhibited a 24.0% strikeout rate against lefties last year, and is only getting a 3.26 implied team total. You might want to shoot for more upside in tournaments, but Wood offers relative safety for cash games.
