High-Priced Pitchers

Corey Kluber ($11,800 on FanDuel): There's something that always feels particularly safe about enlisting Corey Kluber's services, and it probably has a little to do with that pristine 2.87 SIERA, 27.2% strikeout rate, and league-best 2.9% walk rate. Not only is Kluber incredibly consistent, he also routinely pitches deep into games, tossing a quality start in 15 of 16 outings in 2018. And throwing behind a strong Cleveland Indians offense has helped him to 11 wins, tied for the best in the majors. The punchouts may not be where they were in 2017, but otherwise, Kluber is as rock-solid as they come, and the St. Louis Cardinals are showing a mere 3.30 implied team total. On most nights, he would be a shoo-in top choice, but with so many viable alternatives, you'll have to decide whether he's worth his steep salary.
