3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on 6/27/18
Prop betting odds can be useful in daily fantasy sports to help gauge the potential performance of a player on any given night in the MLB. Likewise, the same principles can be applied in the opposite direction -- by using our fantasy projections and models to help make more informed prop bets.
Using the odds available at Bovada Sportsbook, here are three prop bets available tonight that are good plays based on our daily MLB game projections.
Please note that Vegas lines and our game projections may change throughout the day after this article is published.
Seattle Mariners at Baltimore Orioles
Wade LeBlanc OVER 4 Strikeouts (-140)
Our models think that Wade LeBlanc could be one of the better DFS values on the slate for Wednesday night, but his prop odds are almost just as valuable with a strikeout total of just 4 from Bovada.
The Baltimore Orioles own a 24.0% strikeout rate as a team this season, and that's to go with a 21.9% strikeout rate against left-handed pitching. The lefty LeBlanc has at least four punch-outs in six of his last eight starts, and our models are projecting him for 5.46 strikeouts tonight.
Los Angeles Angels at Boston Red Sox
Mike Trout OVER 2.5 Runs, Hits, and RBI (-105)
Mike Trout has been a machine on the road this season, and a matchup with Rick Porcello in Fenway Park could be a boon for fantasy players and bettors alike.
Trout has a .497 wOBA on the road this season, and he is averaging a run, hit, or RBI every 1.49 plate appearances playing away from Los Angeles. Tonight, our models project Trout for 3.02 runs, hits, and RBI.
Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers
Alex Wood OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-115)
Five days ago, we easily cashed an even money prop bet on Alex Wood when he racked up seven strikeouts over six innings of work against the New York Mets. Even though Bovada has moved his strikeout total to 5.5 for Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs, the over could still be a strong play.
We are 1-1 in our props against the Cubs in this series. We lost last night with Ross Stripling, but won a play two nights ago on Kenta Maeda's strikeout total. The Cubs own a 21.9% strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season, and our models project Wood for 6.29 strikeouts in tonight's matchup.
