4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 7/11/18
Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
St. Louis Cardinals
It's another Coors Field night, and while we certainly want to get our hands on those Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks, we also have a red-hot Chris Sale ($12,600) steamrolling everyone in his path. If you're siding with Sale, you're going to need an inexpensive stack, which is where the St. Louis Cardinals come in. The Cardinals remain surprisingly cheap across the board, and their predominantly right-handed lineup should be able to get things done against lefty Carlos Rodon, who's only posted a 4.98 SIERA, 18.2% strikeout rate, and 9.7% walk rate through six starts.
Jose Martinez ($2,600) remains low-priced for a guy producing a 40.8% hard-hit rate, 14.8% strikeout rate, and .407 expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA). Marcell Ozuna ($2,800) hasn't quite seen the same power results as last year, but good things will come as long as he keeps up that 46.3% hard-hit rate. Ozuna also owns a career 123 wRC+ against lefties. If Tommy Pham ($2,900) is back in the lineup, the number-two hitter is making plenty of hard contact of his own, posting a massive 52.3% hard-hit rate since the beginning of May.
Yadier Molina ($2,800) continues to quietly have a solid 2018, owning a 46.0% hard-hit rate and .381 xwOBA. Jedd Gyorko ($2,900) has much better career marks against lefties (126 wRC+), and this year he's producing a 47.8% hard-hit rate, .446 wOBA, and .296 isolated power (ISO) against them.
Matt Carpenter ($3,200) might be the only left-handed bat in the lineup, but you don't necessarily need to avoid him if he's batting leadoff. He typically handles lefty-lefty matchups well, and is putting up an impressive 51.1% hard-hit rate .242 ISO against them in 2018.
