FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper for the Two-Day 10/2/18 and 10/3/18 Slate
The Wild Card games are spread across Tuesday and Wednesday, so we have the rare two-day baseball slate to begin FanDuel's string of MLB postseason contests. As of this writing, pitching is a bit of a conundrum, with the New York Yankees not announcing their starter yet, the Oakland Athletics likely rolling with a bullpen game, and neither starter for the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs looking terribly appealing for DFS purposes. On offense, even with the pitching matchup undecided, the Yankees and Athletics get the edge over their NL counterparts at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered!
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for the FanDuel Wild Card slate.
Pitchers to Target
Luis Severino ($9,400 on FanDuel), J.A. Happ ($9,700) and Masahiro Tanaka ($9,600): All three of the Yankees' possible Wild Card starters have the highest strikeout rates of the slate between Luis Severino (28.2%), J.A. Happ (26.3%), and Masahiro Tanaka (25.0%), so whoever gets the nod is definitely in play. Of course, the problem is they face a ruthless Athletics lineup that's posted the highest wOBA (.345) and ISO (.203) in the second half and will benefit from a park factor boost in Yankee Stadium. Furthermore, in a winner-take-all matchup, there's no doubt that whoever draws the start will be on a short leash if things get dicey. And yet, despite all that, given the low-strikeout alternatives on the NL side, whoever takes the mound is still worth considering in case he's on his A-game, and Severino is particularly intriguing as the cheapest one. Despite a shaky second half, Severino ended the year with a 3.26 SIERA and is the most talented arm on the board.
Editor's note: Severino is officially starting for the Yankees on Wednesday.
