3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/28/19

Anthony Rendon has been scorching hot for the Nationals lately, but he's got a tough matchup with Max Fried tonight. What other players should we look to pivot away from?

Baseball is heating up, and there are plenty of DFS contests to choose from on FanDuel's main slate. While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to avoid sub-optimal options who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three players to consider fading on FanDuel's main slate for May 28.

Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels (OF)

at Oakland Athletics
FanDuel Price: $4,600

If Mike Trout is on your main slate, it's generally a good idea to roster him. Except for today.

Trout squares off in an AL West battle against the Oakland Athletics and Frankie Montas, who's been brilliant this year. His dominance has been driven by absurd numbers against same-sided bats -- namely, a .263 wOBA, .321 slugging percentage, and a 19.5% fly-ball rate.

Playing Trout makes sense nearly all the time, but it could be tough sledding tonight.

Anthony Rendon, Washington Nationals (3B)

at Atlanta Braves
FanDuel Price: $4,300

Do you think Anthony Rendon has been on a bit of a tear since returning from the Injured lIst?

Since May 14th, the slugging third baseman has posted a 1.213 OPS and averaged 17.2 FanDuel points in 51 plate appearances. Not bad, young buck.

But southpaw Max Fried has been cookin' equally hot, too -- and he has been owning righty hitters. This season in 164 plate appearances, righties have posted only a 24.1% fly-ball rate and meager .292 wOBA.

The NL East has a pile of good hurlers and Rendon could be in for some trouble tonight against one of those top-flight arms.

Freddie Freeman, Atlanta Braves (1B)

vs Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $4,000

Think there's a chance Freddie Freeman likes hitting at SunTrust Park?

Since it opened prior to the 2017 season, Freeman has been a terror for opposing pitchers. Spanning 690 plate appearances, the lefty slugger is rocking a .939 OPS, .393 wOBA, and 42.0% hard-hit rate. That'll do, Fred.

Tonight's matchup isn't against any ordinary hurler -- Stephen Strasburg mans the bump for the Nats, and he's been absolutely devastating against lefties. This season, he's limited them to a .242 wOBA, 33.3% strikeout rate, and only a 31.3% fly-ball rate.

Freeman is often an autoplay at the C/1B slot, but other options seem a light brighter tonight.
