4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 8/16/19
It's a Coors Field slate, and with the Colorado Rockies boasting an enormous 7.43 implied total, they can -- and should -- be the most popular stack on the night. But on a full 15-game, let's take a look at where else we can turn in tournaments.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks. As usual, we will not include today's game at Coors Field in these recommendations. You already know that you want bats at Coors when you can afford them, and you don't need us to tell you. Here are the other teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.
Boston Red Sox
The most obvious alternative to the Rockies will be the Boston Red Sox, who are sporting a similarly massive 7.39 implied total against a familiar AL East punching bag in the Baltimore Orioles.
Fresh off another shellacking at the hands of the New York Yankees, the Orioles have only won one of their last 10 games, and Aaron Brooks (4.82 SIERA) probably won't be the one who stops their skid.
Brooks has been giving up home runs left and right this season, allowing 2.36 per nine innings off a 39.3% hard-hit rate and 39.9% fly-ball rate. All those dingers sure look deserved, too, as his xSLG is in just the fourth percentile this season.
His woes include an egregious .573 xSLG against lefties, so we'll definitely want some Rafael Devers ($4,300) in our lineups, and Andrew Benintendi ($3,800), Mitch Moreland ($3,200), and Jackie Bradley ($2,500) also get a boost.
Of course, it's not like Brooks has found any success against righties (5.41 xFIP), either, so don't hesitate to roll with your usual Boston stars in Mookie Betts ($4,100), J.D. Martinez ($4,300), and Xander Bogaerts ($4,200).
