3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 9/12/19
While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.
Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.
Patrick Corbin, P, Washington Nationals
FanDuel Price: $10,000
If you are going to pay up at pitching tonight, go the extra mile and take Justin Verlander ($12,000). Although Patrick Corbin has had a fantastic first season with the Washington Nationals, he faces a Twins lineup that has the MLB single season home run record and ranks third with a 116 wRC+.
Looking at tonight's pitching options, it makes sense to either pay up for Verlander or conserve salary with someone like Tyler Mahle ($6,600)
Kyle Seager, 3B, Seattle Mariners
FanDuel Price: $3,500
After struggling mightily at the plate last season, many considered Kyle Seager to be on the decline. However, this year Seager has turned back the clock, hitting for a 122 wRC+ and 22 home runs in only 90 games.
But most of Seager's success has come against lefties, and he faces a righty in Tyler Mahle tonight. Seager experiences a nearly 60 point drop in wOBA against righties and is best left on the bench.
Josh Donaldson ($3,500) has a much better matchup against Drew Smyly and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Yordan Alvarez, OF, Houston Astros
FanDuel Price: $4,400
Yordan Alvarez has torn up pitching in his rookie season, hitting for a 179 wRC+ and 24 home runs in 73 games.
His opponent tonight, Homer Bailey has been sneakily good against lefties this year, though, allowing a .283 wOBA. While Alvarez certainly could have a big game against Bailey and the Oakland Athletics, at his current price and expected ownership level, he should be left on the bench.
Consider Cody Bellinger ($4,500) in his matchup against the Baltimore Orioles instead.
